A surgical light has to do one job well: give the surgical team clear, even light on the site without heat, glare or shadows. Begin with the theatre itself: its size, its ceiling height and what is already fixed to the ceiling.

Decide between a single-dome and a double-dome light. A double dome, with a main light and a smaller satellite, allows light from more than one direction. Ask how the arms move and whether they hold their position without drifting.

Then look at brightness, colour rendering and spot size, and confirm them in the datasheet. Check that the handle can be sterilised, that the controls are easy to reach, and whether you need a camera arm, a monitor arm or emergency backup power.

Ceiling mounting needs a structural check, so involve your engineer early. SEFAKOY sets out the mounting requirements and options in the quotation.
